Brave Love Summit

From September 6th to 8th, YWAM's women's movement Brave Love held its annual conference at Grimerud. The conference, called the Brave Love Summit, brought together 300 girls from multiple generations.

What is Brave Love?

Brave Love is a movement that originates from Youth With A Mission. The movement aims to activate women of all ages to be themselves, find their voice, and make a difference in the society around them.

The theme of this year's Summit was "Woman of Freedom." Women aged 13 to 70 were challenged to address obstacles that could prevent them from living a life of freedom and stepping into the roles God has called them to. Topics such as confronting fear, rejecting self-pity, and taking responsibility for one's own life were discussed at the conference. The story of Peter, who transformed from an insecure fisherman to the rock on which Jesus could build His church, ran as a central thread throughout the event.

There were many impactful moments from such a weekend. It was amazing to see the parental generation showing up so strongly at the conference. They had personal encounters with God just like the younger participants. In addition, we experienced the older generations cheering us young people on. This created a safe atmosphere where the wisdom and stability of the older stood side by side with the boldness and enthusiasm of the young.

Ida Indrebø (19) from Langevåg attended the Brave Love Summit:

I was at the Brave Love Summit in the summer of 2023, and the strong sense of community made me choose to come back this year. Brave Love is an open community that speaks honestly and genuinely about life. It meant a lot to me to be with other girls who want to live for Jesus and have their focus in the right place.

Commitment was one of the topics during the conference. What is God calling me to say yes to? After I moved back home from boarding school this summer, I became a leader for a group of younger girls in my church. In January, I’m already moving again to attend DTS. Because I’m only home for a short time, I haven’t been very motivated to invest much in these girls in the group. But at the Brave Love Summit, I felt that God challenged me to commit to prioritizing them and investing in the girls' lives while I’m still here. I can pass on what I have received. It’s possible to be 'all in' even if it’s just for a season.

In 2 Corinthians 4:5, it says: "For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake." Jesus gave His life for the world; He is our greatest example of Brave Love. We do not proclaim the name Brave Love as a brand. Brave Love is the gospel of Jesus. Therefore, one of the purposes of Brave Love is to equip Norwegian girls and women to live in the love that Jesus calls us into and to share it with others.
